Palmerston Lake and Area
Clear Water Spring Fed Lake
Palmerston Lake is one of a few clear water spring fed lakes in the area. It is a paradise for swimming, boating and fishing with many coves and bays to explore and average summer water temperatures as warm as 24C. It is approximately 5 km in length, has a surface area of 5.39 km (2), has depths ranging from 20-56 meters and has a strong Lake Trout and Bass habitat; although is stocked from time to time to supplement the natural Lake Trout population. Friendly, Small Community
Ompah is a very small community whose population triples during high season. The next village of Plevna, about a 15 minute drive, has a nice family restaurant attached to a Fresh-Mart grocery store, gas, propane and bottle return. The village has an LCBO, a seasonal bakery and a couple of small local arts and crafts outlets as well as a Flea Market.
Picturesque Cottage Country
With over 250,000 fresh water lakes and rivers, Ontario is well known for its’ picturesque cottage country. Part of the Canadian Shield, North Frontenac consists of rock, forest, lakes and rivers. Besides Palmerston Lake, there are many other lovely lakes within a short distance from the cottage. Canonto Lake, Crotch, Mosque, Granite, The Quinns, Summit, Wolfe and Mair to name a few can be accessed year round and offer numerous varieties of fish for the avid fisherman.
